What to see in Belgium? The most beautiful cities in Belgium.

Brussels is worth a visit for at least a couple of days. Although it may be known as a bureaucratic city, I can assure you that there is nothing boring about it. And, in addition, several of the best known places to see in Belgium are here, including the Grand Place, the famous Manekken Pis or the Atomium.

BRUJAS:  THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CITY TO SEE IN BELGIUM

For many travellers, Bruges is the most beautiful city to see in Belgium. A postcard town, where everything seems to be in place, to the delight of the tourists who invade it every day. Its historical centre, in any case, is small, which allows you to visit it quite well in a single day. You can arrive in Bruges by train or by booking a one-day tour from Brussels, with a guide in Spanish, which will come out at the same price.

Among the places to see in Bruges you can not miss in beaterio, the Cathedral of San Salvador or the Basilica of the Holy Blood. However, the best of the city lies in its walks looking for squares such as the Market, with its Civil Bell Tower, or the City Hall, or its famous canals. The Groenerei or Green Pier is one of the most bucolic areas to see in Bruges.

WINNER: THE CITY OF CARLOS V

Another must-see in Belgium is Ghent, the birthplace of Charles V. You can also get here by train or by a day tour (cheap) from Brussels with a Spanish speaking guide.

A fairytale city, with its canals and guild houses, its castle and its many churches and bell towers, it is one of the most evocative cities in Europe. Among the visits you can miss are the church of St. Nicholas, the Cathedral of St. Bavon and Civil Bell of Ghent (the three buildings are almost together), the Castle of the Counts of Flanders with the bucolic square Sint-Veerleplein that is just opposite and the streets Graslei and Korenlei, two of the most picturesque to see in Ghent, located on the banks of the canal Leie, the most beautiful in the city.

AMBERES: ECONOMIC CAPITAL AND SECOND LARGEST CITY IN THE COUNTRY

This year we have been able to visit Antwerp for the first time and the truth is that it has surprised us very well. If you are visiting from Brussels, dedicate one day to it (you can arrive in half an hour by train or on an economic tour from Brussels with a Spanish speaking guide). If you are going to travel Belgium by car, you can dedicate a couple of days to it.

Among the must-see places are the Cathedral, perhaps the most beautiful to see in Belgium, the birthplace of Rubens or the old Plantin-Moretus printing press, which was our preferred visit in Antwerp and is part of the World Heritage. You can read here our post about the places to see in Antwerp.

LOVAINA: THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TOWN HALL TO SEE IN BELGIUM

Leuven’s historic centre is small, so you can dedicate half a day to this city (you can even combine your visit with that of Mechelen in Spanish). The bell tower of San Pedro is included in the list of World Heritage Sites, as is the Gran Beguinaje, a must-see. However, if there is one thing that makes Louvain a must-see city, it is its Gothic town hall. It is undoubtedly the most beautiful to see in Belgium. Built in flamboyant gothic or brabantine is a real jewel of this style, raised on three floors. Its facades are full of statues (up to 236 you can tell) representing some of the most important characters in the history of Flanders. A wonder.
